CAA Highlights Consumer Rights in Package Holidays
The Civil Aviation Authority has launched a new public information leaflet, which highlights the financial security provided by ATOL and other consumer benefits of booking holiday packages with tour operators.
The new leaflet recognises that some holidaymakers are now making their own packages by booking flights and accommodation separately, or by using links on airline websites to add other holiday components. The leaflet explains that “do-it-yourself” holidays often have no consumer protection if suppliers like airlines or car hire firms collapse or cannot provide the booked service. In contrast, tour operators selling packages have to comply with standards on consumer rights laid down by European law.
